Hait Report - Jen Bullock - Feb 23, 2010
More Earthquakes
Haiti Report – Jennifer Bullock , February 23, 2010
(Reported by Karen Lafferty from phone conversations with Jennifer)
As I spoke to Jennifer late Monday night (Feb 22), she was noticeably tired. Because the orphanage where they are based is very near the airport, she has a difficult time sleeping, as planes come and go all hours of the night. That was nothing compared to what woke them at 1:30am… a 4.7earthquake. Jen and other YWAMers, and the volunteer doctors and nurses were all in their tents; but there were about 80 children ranging in ages from 2 months to 17 years in the orphanage building just yards away from them. Realizing what danger the children were in, Jen and all the safe tent dwellers ran to evacuate the orphanage. They were greeted by the cries of terror from the children. They all worked quickly to get all of the children, and a few of their parents who were staying with them, outside to safety. Many of the children continued to cry in terror, no doubt remembering their earlier earthquake nightmare.
They gathered under the mango trees and tried their best to settle in for the rest of the dark night. Jen stayed close to comfort the babies and other children. Then… the presence and peace of God came like a breath from heaven as one of the mothers began to softly sing, “And He walks with me and he talks with me, and tells me I am His own”… other voices joined as they continued in French, “and the joy we share as we tarry there no other has ever known.” At that point Jen shared how she broke down in tears. It’s no doubt hard to explain those kinds of tears. Tears of heartbreak…. Yet tears of hope and peace, knowing they have not been abandoned by God.
By sunrise, a Mennonite mission group, who YWAM has been assisting to build “tent houses” out of PVC pipes and tents, had erected enough structures to house the orphanage/hospital. Pray for the fear of this terrifying night to be replaced by the peace of God.

Jen had an adventure of a different kind today. She went with a medical team by helicopter to another site where there could be need for medical help. She was able to get some incredible video footage. When they reached the site, it turned out that other medical teams had already visited and they were doing fine. Praise the Lord for all those who have come to help. She is taking very few still photos now as her camera is broken and unreliable. She has been praying for a new one (about $1200) for awhile. Please pray whether the Lord would have you be one of the donors toward this need. Also, pray for her health. She’s only had one bout of stomach “weirdness”. Pray that she gets enough rest and food. She has lost some weight, she says. We still need about $1000 to meet all the expenses for this trip. Donations can be made by credit card though this website or by mailing a check to “YWAM”, PO Box 22009, Santa Fe, NM 87502. Put “Haiti” in the memo.
