Second Week of Seminar: Ecuador
Greetings from Quito, Ecuador. Meagen and I have just completed the second week of the three week Music & Art seminar that we are teaching in. Meagen is teaching piano, voice and music theory. I am teaching guitar and bass guitar. There are also painting and cooking classes going on. There are about 60 students involved in the seminar. The seminar is taking place at a Christian Missionary Alliance church in the Cumbaya zone of Quito. The worship pastor, Gustavo Samaniego, and the Cumbaya CMA fellowship have the long-term vision for a full time Christian music school and we are privileged to be a part of working towards that long-term vision by being a part of this seminar. Gustavo is planning on continuing worship/music/instrument training with these same students into the Fall by having specific music classes.
The students are very eager to learn and are growing musically and spiritually. The students are of all ages from very young children up to adults. The Body of Christ here seems to be strong are growing in Grace and in the Word of God. It is a very healthy work environment for Meagen and I and we are very comfortable staying in Pastor Gustavo’s house with his wife and 2 children.
Thanks to our good friends at Step Up To Life Ministries www.stepuptolife.com, we were able to bring with us 500 Step Up To Life gospel tracts, which we have been handing out at the local bus stop during the afternoons when classes end. We were also able to bring a Yamaha keyboard with us, which has been a great help, that we will leave with Gustavo for use in training.
Thank you for your prayers and continue to pray as we go into the final week of the seminar! Enjoy the photos!
