Call in Those Prayers....
Karen & Elizabeth Minister to Many via the Phone
I must be honest... I have never really enjoyed watching those TV - Marathon/Telethons that some Christian stations must do to raise funds to operate. I understand the need for them, but the HIGH PRESSURE guys kind of bother me. I never thought I would find myself working the phones for such an event, but our local Christian TV offered to pay us YWAMers who were needing finances to pay for our upcoming trips to Asia. I've never been paid to pray... but it sounded like a right thing to do for our friends who run the station. They have been a big support to our ministry. I had no idea what a blessing it would be to talk to all these folks who call in.
There were many that called in who were glad to support the station financially, but over half of the calls were simply to ask for prayer. Even though we worked several nights in a row from 7pm to 12:30am, I cannot remember getting sleepy while there. It was such a blessing to be able to pray with so many loney, hurting , confused people and watch the Holy Spirit come to meet their needs.
Probably my biggest blessing came when a young man who had just returned from a tour in Iraq called. He was having a hard time making the adjustment to "normal life" back home. He had just been partying hard and drinking a lot. He finally broke and began to call out to God. At home flipping through the channels he discovered us. He called in and told me his story and then said.. "I need God! How do I find Him?" What a joy it was to explain to him what Jesus did for us and then lead him in the sinners prayer. Monte became a Child of God and my brother in Christ.
There were many more stories. Now.. I would be glad to work those phones when ever I could. If you've never volunteered for that.... try it once. You may find a whole new ministry for yourself.
